Wellington U16s 8, North Curry U16s 0

Our U16s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing win against North Curry.

Following an exceptional performance and result against Minehead, the pre-game team talk was heavy on not becoming complacent.

The first 15 minutes were a textbook example of “starting strongly”.

Spencer Thomson helped himself to a hat-trick in the first 15 minutes which was the reward for a masterclass in robust and assertive forward play with assists from Brenly Povey, and Toby Marke twice.

Making his “second debut” for the club, Elijah Hiller added another couple to the scoreline, and Brenly made it six with a precise finish after backing up his own burst into the box.

North Curry regrouped well for the second 40 minutes – particularly winning more in midfield and becoming more solid at the back.

Wellington had to wait until the 61st minute for Spencer to grab a fourth goal, after Riley’s stooping header came back off the post.

Toby added a goal to his excellent trio of assists in the 77th minute – with Elijah turning provider.

Josh Waygood was man-of-the-match for a solid and consistent defensive performance, as well as an assist.

Wellington face Tone Youth away on Sunday.
