On a sunny Saturday, the annual Moors Tournament in Tiverton saw two teams from our U9s, the Wanderers and the Rangers, put on a fantastic display of youth football.

Both sides navigated their way through the group stages with grit and determination, securing their spots in the round of 16.

This achievement was made even more impressive as Wellington were then the only club to have two teams progress to the quarter-finals.

In the last eight, the Wanderers faced the reigning champions, Starcross, who boasted an impressive goal difference of +46 from the group stages.

Despite their best efforts, the Wanderers were unable to overcome their formidable opponents, losing 1-0.

The Rangers, however, continued their impressive run, progressing through the quarter-finals and semi-finals to meet Starcross in the final.

Although they put up a valiant fight, the Rangers ultimately fell short, losing 2-1 after extra-time.

While Starcross deserve credit for retaining their title, the Wellington boys should be immensely proud of their performances throughout the day.

The opposing coaches were full of praise, with several expressing interest in arranging future games to see more of the impressive talent on display.

The goal scorers for Wellington were: Harrison Thompson (eight) Jack Jorge (seven), Fraser May (two), Louis Molloy (two), Danny Creagh, Tom Kennan, Riley Lloyd, and Jude Norman, showcasing the attacking prowess of the young players.

Thank you to kit sponsors, Roadchef, continuing their invaluable support for the U9s.
